significant milestones in the historical development of Arkansas's biotechnology &
medical technology industry.
Arkansas Junior
Academy of Science (AJAS) -- The Arkansas Junior Academy of Science (AJAS) sponsors science
contests for students in grades 9 thru12 at the state and region level, and for students in grades
7 and 8 at the region level. In this way, the AJAS strives to stimulate an interest in research and
direct young students in the pursuit of science.
Arkansas Museum of Discovery
-- The Museum of Discovery strives to engage, enlighten and educate people of all ages through an
interactive experience where science and history come alive. In addition to permanent exhibits and
special events, the museum also supports a handful of outreach activities for local schools.
Arkansas Parent Teachers Association (PTA)
-- The Arkansas PTA's mission is to support and speak on behalf of children and youth in the
schools, in the community and before governmental bodies and other organizations that make
decisions affecting children; to assist parents in developing the skills they need to raise and
protect their children; and to encourage parent and public involvement in the public schools of
this nation.
Arkansas Science Teachers Association (ASTA)
-- The ASTA is committed to promoting excellence and innovation
in science teaching and learning for all. ASTA provides many programs and services for science educators,
including awards and professional development workshops.
Arkansas Science and Technology Authority (ASTA)
-- The Arkansas Science and Technology Authority has several resources for Arkansas Science educators
including a mini-grant program, the STUART Grant Program, and the STEM Program.

Mid_America Science Museum
-- Located in Hot Springs, the Mid-America Science Museum is the largest hands-on science
museum in Arkansas. A Smithsonian affiliate, the museum offers rotating programs, interactive
exhibits, and outreach programs for all ages. Exhbits include an indoor cave, the largest conical
Tesla coil, and laser light shows.
